Registration is now open for the 2013 Northwest Match Play Championship.

In 2012 – we had 128 players – we expect 256 this year so SIGN UP NOW! Early entries may receive first round bye based on total in the field. Registration is currently open – but it closes MAY 20, 2013 and your first match must be played by June 30, 2013.
PLAY: The match play is a simple format – a bracket will be established (just like the NCAA Basketball tournament) and you will be paired with another golfer. We will provide you with a contact list of your opponents so the two of you can communicate to set up your match. You decide where and when the match will take place. You can play a $20 course or a $100 course – whatever the two of you agree to.
BRACKETS: The brackets will be a work in progress as players sign up. A final link to the brackets will be sent via email.
TIMING: You will have 30 days to schedule and play your match. You should be able to come up with a mutually agreeable time and course on which to hold the match.
SCORING: All matches are based on USGA Match Play rules. Your lowest USGA recognized handicap index of the last 6 months will be used as your tournament index. Some matches will have men playing against women and it is assumed that different tees will be played – that is covered in the Match Play Rules (Available by clicking here).
REPORTING SCORES: All players will be provided with the tournament director’s email address to which all scores will be reported. A copy of the official scorecard is requested – but not required and can be faxed or emailed to the tournament director.
COURSES: We are working to get some discounts at Puget Sound area courses for matches – those will be posted on the website as we get closer to the beginning of the championship.
PRIZES: Prizes will be paid in the form of VISA Gift Cards at the conclusion of the event. Total payout is based on the total number of players in the field. Beginning with the winners of the second round, prizes will be accumulated. The champion will wil $750 Visa Gift Card which is all that The USGA Rules of Amateur Golf “officially” allow.
BONUS TO SWEET 16: As a bonus to the final sixteen players – golf will be provided FREE OF CHARGE for the final matches, all of which will be played at Salish Cliffs Golf Course in September.
REGISTRATION: Registration is open to up to 256 players this year. You can register through this website . PLEASE NOTE: Registration is not official until payment has been made. You can do so with a credit card, PayPal. If you need to make payment in another format – please contact the tournament director to make arrangements. Entry fee is $65. This fee does not cover your golf.
NEW THIS YEAR – Referral Program
We encourage you to invite your friends and golf buddies to join this year as well. We would also like to reward those who do get other players to sign up.
All new players will be entering with a new field in the registration form – “Referred By”. In this field, your friends can put yours and their name in the hat for a $100 Puetz Golf Gift Certificate. One for you – and one for the person who puts in your name. Each time your name is placed in the refer field, your name will be entered into our sweepstakes drawing – as will the new entry. So if you refer 5 friends – you have five chances to win!
